As a student at Berklee, I always thought it’d just take one hit song to make it. While this is true, it took me a while to find my true passion and expertise beyond being a performer and composer. After intense studies in martial arts, intuition, and meditation I developed an integrative method to learning music which includes my theory of rhythm, the physicality of music, and ways of conceptualizing (new system for learning rhythm) and hearing music (new ear training techniques) that give incredible results. While some of my Berklee friends and classmates have gone on to massive success with celebrity bands (Foo Fighters, Leon Bridges, Demi Lovato) or become celebrity artists themselves (St. Vincent, Esperanza Spalding, Hiromi), others have found joy in composing/arranging, sound design, music production, teaching, or a combination of these.

Sound Formation Method™ Certified Teachers like Adrian Garay and others have had success through a combination of performing, recording (as a studio musician and royalties), teaching, and working as a music producer. This approach can be extremely successful for the right person as the SFM is geared towards taking performers, composers, and producers to the next level through a revolutionary theory of rhythm and methodology. Even if you’re already at the highest level as a music performer or composer, it can be wonderful to have a solid career in supporting music students when you’re ready for a short or long break from being on the road. Usually teaching is not ideal if you’re in this tier as various teaching options like local music stores are not in alignment with your level of success.
