The Sound Formation Mentorship Program is for pre-college, current students, and post-college training. Pre-college training includes preparing for success at college, e.g. acceptance, scholarships, and testing into the best classes or testing out of some required classes. We can provide guidance on college selection since we work directly and indirectly with the music faculty at a number of top schools. We offer in-college mentorship and tutoring for students that need support due to learning differences like dyslexia, otherwise need support in their studies, or would like career guidance. The Sound Formation Mentorship Program is also for college graduates that now need career support and direction and further training in advancing their musicianship.
There’s a little known secret that the best musicians have the best teachers AND the best information.
Many musicians struggle to advance rapidly when hindered by mediocre teachers, by great teachers with mediocre information, or even great players that have trouble teaching what they know effectively – which is extremely common. We can help avoid and overcome these pitfalls.
Pre-College Students
If you’re planning on attending an elite music school like Berklee, Curtis Institute, USC, Manhattan School of Music, Miami Frost School of Music, Juilliard, or New England Conservatory, you may be wondering how to best prepare and how to place into top classes or test out of some required classes. When I attended Berklee I was able to place and test out of about 1 full year’s worth of classes and hence graduated early. You might also be wondering what college will fit your career trajectory best or match the style of music you most enjoy playing. Additionally, many students attending top music colleges choose to enroll in the Sound Formation Mentorship Program due to the invaluable training in rhythm theory that is far beyond what you will learn in any college.
